In Need of a Personal Trainer?

     As a fitness professional the two most common questions I get asked are, what is the best fitness routine for me?  What is the best exercise for me?  Coming on board with me, Tanner White, I look at fitness from a different angle than most.
     Every individual I work with will have a different body type, different goals, and different genetic potential.  It is my job to tailor a fitness routine that is safe and going to benefit my client in th emost optimal way. 
     In my experience fitness professionals that you may talk to will tell you to run on the treadmill as long as you can and lift a specific amount of weight for a certain amount of repetitions.  Quite basic information.  This way may hold true for a fitness routine to see some results, but is it the best way?  In my professional opinion I would say it is not.
     The body is very complex, but during exercise it all comes down to muscle fiber type activation and energy system usage.  Your muscles don't know the difference between a jug of milk and a dumbell.  So why when people discuss workouts are they so obsessed with weight lifted?  All your body knows is the stress you are applying to your muscles.  So by manipulating different aspects of the exercise like plane of motion, rest periods, tempo, and time under tension you can apply different stresses on your body activating different muscle fibers and stressing different energy systems seeing greater and faster results.
